Yeah, I guess Oregon really got screwed this year not going to the BCS. Way to go Ducks!!! Great win! Wait...what's that? Oh, they lost to a sorry ass Oklahoma team? The BCS screws some things up, but it looks like they were correct in keeping Oregon out. Its quality wins not the quantity of losses. Even when ND was so-called "irrelevant", they were more relevant than Oregon will ever be.

UM QB's
While I was watching the Alamo Bowl last night the commentators said something that made me laugh (I know very rare). They started talking about all of the Michigan QB's that have made it in the NFL, starting with Grbac. Lets see, we have Grbac, Collins, Griese, Dreisbach, Brady, Henson, and Navarre. I think that is it. That's great that they could make that list up! I don't think Dreisbach made it past 3rd string. Who was it that coached the best of them in the NFL? Who turned a 6th round pick to a Super Bowl MVP despite the horrible coaching he received while at UM? That's right! The real coach of the year: Weis. ND could have a list just as long if they counted QB's converted to WR's. Freaking ESPN! What a bunch of hacks!!!

Happy Christmakwanzika
DJ looked great in IU's win over Charlotte as we wiped the floors with those fools! It felt great as they stole one from IU last year on a last second heave. I am looking forward to seeing DJ more against Butler tonight. He just improves the defense greatly. Now the guards can pressure even more with the shot blocking presence he brings. I am seeing a lot more steals and turnovers from opposing teams.

It came to fruition, finally!
Well now it is fact that ND will play OSU in the Fiesta Bowl. Call it a warm up for next bowl season when the Championship will be played there. I think the game will be a great one with the Irish winning, of course. You can't give Charlie a month to prepare for a team! He will tear them apart!
Please Charlie, don't hurt 'em too bad.
And to all you Oregon U. and Pac-10 schmucks, you guys had no chance against the Irish. Colin Cowherd said it best, "They make movies about Notre Dame football. They don't make movies about Oregon football." And if you still don't like it, talk to the ACC and the Big Least about FSU and WVU. At least FSU won the conference championship. What did WVU do? Oh, yeah. They have the best record in the football powerhouse conference called the Big Least.
Kudos to Walt Harris for not being an arse and voting ND #9 or worse and voting Oregon #4 like all the other Pac-10 coaches did in the USA Today poll (he actually put ND ahead of the Schmucks err, Ducks #4 and #5). He is the only voting coach in the Pac-10 to face both teams this year other than you know who.
Also, Steve Spurrier should not be allowed to vote anymore. The OBC voted ND #14, his own team #21, and rival Clemson #24 (after losing 13-9 to close the season). Now, he is an ass!

Got Salsa?
Well, well, well. Looks like Charlie has led the Irish to the BCS in his 1st year. This is much better than the 7-4 record I thought would happen. And they came only 8 points away from being UNDEFEATED! Just a couple of things I noticed:
- First off as many people thought after the 2nd play of the game, I thought this game was going to turn into a rout. Then Quinn threw 2 INTs. And I had a feeling if they do not get the visions of chips and salsa dancing in their heads and focus on this game, it would be Gator Bowl time.
- I sounded like the audio feed was coming from an ABC News mike in Iraq. All I heard was some ass screaming "Lalalalalalala!" WTF?! At least there were no car bombs afterward.
- Walker was awesome! He must be feeling much better. They should have gone to him sooner (at least Charlie did make an adjustment which is more than previous coaches). And that direct snap to him was a thing of beauty!
- I can't forget about the Shark! 200+ yds.!!!! Now ND has a 3,000 yard QB, two 1,000 yard receivers, and a 1,000 yard RB!! WOW!!!!
- It was great to see Quinn shrug off the bad 1st half and have a near perfect 2nd half.

Yea! Hoosier Hysteria is Starting
The Hoosiers begin the season with an exhibition game against St. Joseph's (Ind.) tonight. Unfortunately it will not be televised. When Knight was at IU exhibition games were on TV.
You can hear it on the radio or check out game tracker on the net.

Went to ND B-ball Exhibition Game Last Night
They played Lewis University and won 59-40 after leading at halftime 22-21. Hopefully, the Irish will iron out some of the wrinkles before the season starts. They looked pitiful in the 1st half.
Torin Francis needs to use his body more and be the big bruiser he should be. He is such a disappointment. I know IU was battling for him out of high school. I'm kinda glad they didn't get him. He is another George Leach. Yeah, they have size but they don't use it except to block shots.
Lewis would double down on the post (after ND figured out how to pass to the post) and ND did not recognize where the double was coming from. It was like watching two fair high school teams playing. If this game is any indication of how they will play, it will be a long season.
Zeller has a nice touch and Quinn (no not Brady) is solid and a menace on D. Just too many 3s and no set plays. It kinda looked like a pick-up game.

Catching up with ND news
Jason Whitlock needs to look in the mirror. He is a moron and a professional troller. That is all that needs to be said.
Wow! I guess that is it. Bye weeks are so boring. My prediction for the Tennessee game is 21-13, ND. The UT defense is good but not good enough to completely stop ND. And the Vols offense is shaky at best.
ND better win because if they do not, my Monday will be filled with Juli from work playing "Rocky Top" over and over.

Tidbits for the BYU Game
An article from the SB Trib says thirty BYU players are married. Six of them have pregnant wives. They forgot to say that five players are collecting social security.
While looking up the 3-3-5 defense on the web, I stumbled into this from Wikipedia:
In Super Bowl XXV, the New York Giants played with only two down linemen, with four linebackers and five defensive backs. The strategy was very successful in preventing the Buffalo Bills from completing long passes, but it allowed over 190 yards in rushing. Nevertheless, the Giants won.
Guess who was the defensive assistant for the Giants that year. Bingo! Charlie Weis. With that and his football genius upbringing with the Bills, I wonder if this game will even be close in the 1st half.

USC Game Thoughts
Reggie for Heisman
By far Reggie Bush is the best college football player I have seen play this year. After the ND game, there is no way I would vote anyother way if I could vote. Without him, USC gets blown out. Period. Just incredible.
Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
Where did LenDale White go? The Irish put the smack down! Total non-factor.
The Last Play
After watching the play time after time, I can safely say that yes the Bush Push did happen. Also, Hoyte could have stood Leinart up but Hoyte decided to either go strip the ball out or pull Leinart down. It looks like these happened at the same time. Bush pushed right when Hoyte thought that Leinart was stopped and then reached around to go for the ball.
Missed Opportunities
With that said, Notre Dame left everything on the field Saturday. Quinn had a great game although he missed a couple of throws. Two biggies are both overthrows. One to the Shark out of the back of the endzone. The other, over Schwapp's head before the missed FG.
The King of Coaches vs. The Poodle
Weis definitely had the team prepared for this one. He saw weaknesses and attacked them. The NBC announcers kept talking about how bad ND was doing on 1st down, but that was by design. NBC could not put 2 and 2 together. They knew Weis wanted ball control. Well, if you do that, you will typically have a bunch of 3rd downs. Duh! Weis acknowledged as much in his presser yesterday.
Bottom line: I do not see ND losing to USC again in the coming years. Next year will be a blowout if Bush leaves.

USC Pep Rally to be in the Stadium
Just found this out at The Observer. There are rumors going around here that Joe Montana might speak, also. Woo hoo! I hope weather permits. Here come the Irish!

Some comments after the PU game
First off, I loved this game. ND may have not scored on the first drive, but every drive after that in the 1st half was TD. The one interception Quinn had was a great job by the end to jump up for that pass. They recognized when they blitzed, Quinn was at times getting the ball out to Stovall quickly. With that said, the offense took what the defense gave them. Yeah, Darius couldn't keep his 100 yd./game streak alive. That was mainly because we were lighting them up passing the ball.
It was funny with Davie doing the commentary for the game. Hey Bob, who was your offensive coordinator when you coached at ND? That's right, Jim Colletto. The Purdue's last coach before Tiller. Hmmmm. Let me see. Would you hire a coach that was 38-80-4 in 11 yrs. as a head coach in football? I think most would not.
Davie was always preoccupied with how many 1st round players he coached when he was here. Not saying that Quinn does not deserve it, just that I don't want Quinn to leave after this year (not that I think he will). He has been awesome at picking up the new offense. Or maybe it is he uses things in the offense that he is comfortable with. Here is somethink I saw in BGS that caught my eye:
Leinart- 82/126 (65.1%), 1286 yards, 10 touchdowns, 2 INT
Young- 54/82 (65.9%), 780 yards, 7 touchdowns. 48 carries, 310 yards, 2 touchdowns, 5 INT
Quinn - 124/190 (65.3%), 1621 yards, 13 touchdowns, 3 INT
The Rock also pointed out that 17 years ago come Oct. 15 something special happened at Notre Dame Stadium:
17 years ago on October 15th, Notre Dame knocked off Miami in the middle of one of its great undefeated runs on the way to a National Championship.

The reason for this blog
I created this blog because I am passionate about ND football and IU basketball and am unaware of any one source with regular information on both.
First, the primary reason for this is the TV coverage of the two where I live (South Bend, IN). This may sound silly and maybe weird, but when I was growing up of course ND football games were always on. And the same with IU basketball. The weird thing is ND basketball was not on TV all that much even around here. Granted there were some dark days of ND hoops. They were happy to win an exhibition game.
Second, I grew up in South Bend. Also, I visited my aunt a few summers in Bloomington, IN. I really liked it. She has a balloon shop down there called Blast Off Balloons off of Kirkwood. If you go in there, tell her Josh says "hi".
If anyone would like to post something here that is relevant or comment on anything, feel free to do so.
